Props to John Oliver for learning a routine involving both speaking Portuguese and using nunchucks at the same time.
I'm sure the HBO budget department is also grateful for the inexpensive ending.
I wonder if the execs at HBO talk about John to their therapists?
that's why he makes the big bucks!
@anticharlatan depends on the invoice of his nun chuck trainer 🤣
@Courage Karnga thank you my dude, you’ve just made my day with that comment :)
To the Brazilians here, don't be embarrassed. Political fanaticism is on the rise everywhere and in general it's a really bad time for democracy rn 💔 sending hugs and strength from the Philippines
thanks 🥰
Thank you so much.
Thanks bro
Thank you!
Ps: I love the Philippines!
Bro this guy is super biased. Brazil is in the best situations it has ever been in the last 20 years
As a Brazilian I must say: fui rir e chorei.
Eu rs quando ele começou a falar da pandemia não deu pra segurar a tristeza e o desgosto.
Já eu vim chorar e ri
Brasileiros falam isso? Sksksksksksksksk
Exatamente kkkkkkkkrying
I am watching this one day after the elections. Lula won by an uncomfortable small margin. I am so worried about all of the threats and the subsequent unrest that could come out of this situation. But I am glad that you tried to speak Brazilian Portuguese and you did not hurt yourself with the nunchucks.
The margin would have been a lot bigger if federal authorities weren't stopping buses and cars
As always, John’s words were prophetic. His videos age really well.
Yes, they do☑️💯📈
The last bit was intended to be funny, but as a Brazilian I definitely couldn't stop the tears! Thanks for the support and widespread of our worries here!
Terribly insensitive, Samurai taxi driver and Oliver. The notion nunchaku = samurai is like having someone make a pastiche about celebrating Hanukkah and calling himself a "proud commie-fighting *Nazi Waffen SS warrior."*
Nunchaku, part of Karate developed in Okinawa, was specifically developed to DESTROY samurai oppressors who imposed 90% tax rates and exploited them for 4 centuries like the English did the Irish. When the samurai ran out of native Japanese tribes to slaughter and resettle (Ezo, Kumaso, Hayato, Tsuchigumo, etc. eradiated completely. Nivkh, Ainu, Oroks fled out of Japan), they sailed South to Okinawa and butchered the people there but found it too far to resettle, so they confiscated all the weapons and killed anyone trying to fight back against samurai military dictatorship and oppression.
Just look at all the weapons they use. Grindstone handles become the Tonfa, Threshing flails become Nunchaku, Sickles get a chain added and become Kusarigama. Lot of basic Karate moves make no sense until you realize they are exercises for using Tonfas or the like. These are all roundabout ways for the Okinawans to fight back against the Samurai rapists and save their families with the remaining farming tools available after the samurai confiscated all weapons.
A lot of these weapons/techniques were specifically made to disable the samurai oppressors' katana.
I guess if in Medieval Europe people were also imposed not the historical 25% but 90% taxes and all their weapons were confiscated like the Okinawans suffered, they too would develop martial arts with wheat-threshing flails.
Japan has taken Okinawan heritage, like with many other Asian heritage, and stolen it, and use it to make money overseas. Especially egregious is this where taking martial arts SPECIFICALLY MADE TO DEFEND AGAINST THEIR TYRANNY and making a mockery of it for the oppressors' profit? *Pure evil.*
The Okinawan suffering continued into the 20th century spent as WW2 cannon fodder for Japan where Japan hides the fact that these people are NOT Japanese but loves to use them to bloat numbers to play victim to Americans like the Himeyuri Schoolgirls of Okinawa they raped and conscripted to die as cannon fodder.
_Did you know 1/3 of nuclear victims of Hiroshima (WMD poison gas production hub, used to make bombs to gas Asian cities for 30 years and heavily contributed to the 30 million death toll incurred by Japan) and Nagasaki (Mitsubishi slave factory center) were foreign Asian slaves Japan desperately tries to hide but uses their number to bloat their numbers to drive a narrative? Along with how they were making 2 Japanese nukes but needed to buy time so they scheduled to expand germ-bombing missions to America in the September of 1945? (Not even Nazis used WMDs in war)_
On top of that, after using the Okinawan deaths to give US forces the false notion that people on this small "Japanese" island are determined to fight to the death to hopefully disencouraged US forces to land on mainland Japan, Japanese oppressors expounded the propaganda they've been fed about "demonic" westerners are going to come and rape all their kids and eat them alive (thus why they must blow themselves up in kamikazes for Japan), they must kill their own children to spare them such a fate, and follow in suit with seppuku (because dead men tell no tales about Japanese war crimes). The remaining Okinawans once the Japanese fled and left them to their fates, were surprised that landing US forces gave them food and medicine, and discovereed it were the Japanese who were raping Okinawan children. Many took the food they were given as offerings to the children they killed, and on their graves they wept tears of blood and cursed Japan.
When in the 20th century Okinawans started to spread their Karate culture in Japan and overseas do you know what the Japanese did? They forcibly renamed it from 唐手 to 空手 (both read as Kara-te), changing the meaning "China-hand" which pays respects to the original Chinese man who taught Okinawans his style of martial arts, to "Empty-hand" because Japan can't steal it if it has "China" right in the name. Not to mention the big reason Karate became more popular outside of Japan was because the Japanese Judo masters suppressed it, and for quite some time this even was portrayed in media where it was common to depict "noble Judo master defeating thuggish Karate criminals."
Then after WW2, Okinawans were still treated like Burakumin (the Untouchable Pariahs of Japan) and were mistreated as a whole in society and were ridiculed for unscrupulous thugs who complain about Japan yet still sought work in Japan (that's only because Japan destroyed everything on Okinawa). And dumped 70% of military bases in the tiny islands of Okinawa where it takes up 20% of the land and forbids constructing high rise buildings for security reasons.
It's no wonder Okinawans want independence like the Irish achieved, and when announcing they want to be like the 2nd Singapore of Asia, Japan scoffs at them today and says they are too poor to be independent, forgetting that's only because they have been enslaving them for 4 centuries.
There is a good reason why 1 billion Asians cheered for American nukes emancipating them from human experimentation/vivisection on forcibly impregnated girls and their unwanted fetuses, cannibalism, civilian lynch mobs, violent Japanese civilian resettlers, sex slavery of 80-man daily rape quotas per underage girl and subsequent execution if pregnant or at the end of the war because dead girls tell no tales (see Vivian Bullwinkel), mass forced labor, ppl used as cannon fodder for the one true god that is Emperor Hirohito under threat of lynching their families if they refused, forcing colonials to commit seppuku suicide like samurai to fool Americans how "determined" the colonies are to defending Japan, firebombing cities, gassing cities, bombing with germ bombs, erasing culture, arresting/executing any teachers in the colonies that dared teach their native language or tried to build private schools or even make a dictionary of their native language, and forbidding any language but Japanese.
Samurai of Feudal Japan were also brutal pimps that sold their girls out for Portuguese muskets. The most powerful warlord of 1500s, Oda Nobunaga and his rivals were busy setting up brothels in Philippines to put his slave girls to earn money for his wars (this is on top of an average of 75% tax rates for Japanese peasants, enough that even in the peacetimes of the 19th century, analyst Nobuhiro Satou said annually, 1/3 households in Japan killed a baby.) In the 19th century these became derogatorily nicknamed "Karayuki-san" (Miss Gone-to-China), and later more formally recognized and praised as "Joshigun" (Army of Girls). Famous leading thinkers like Yukichi Fukuzawa praised them like prized moneymaking livestock to earn dollars and pounds for Japan's colonial expansion and "reforms." In around Meiji Restoration period alone, 300,000 Japanese girls were pimped abroad and their brothels even reached India and Australia. Even these Japanese girls noted that native tribesmen were the best partners and the absolute violent and worst were the Japanese men, but wanted white men to rescue them from Japan's brutal sex slave industry. (Think of the background the Italian Opera Madame Butterfly was written in). When this wasn't enough to cover the costs of Japan's ever growing undeclared invasions and more wars, they started kidnapping 100s of 1000s of colonial girls to meet demand.
And ofc all throughout, they justified everything as the right of Samurai Spirit and Right of Conquerors. The mythical Samurai fervor was used to justify kamikazes, samurai spirit was used to justify having no respect for POWs and were used up in decapitating contests for sport or eaten as sushi. (2 million out of 3 million soldiers had cannibalized a slave/native) (This is why veteran and President George HW Bush threw up the sushi the Japanese PM served in a banquet in 1992, his wingmen were captured and eaten in Chichijima to dehumanize Americans as subhuman livestock and allay the fears of the Japanese troops) Samurai bushido spirit was why the soldiers were given swords in WW2 because holy samurai yamato spirit trumped practicality.

Tic tac kkkkkkkkkkkk
Já começou.
I feel like John must be the only British man to have ever spoken Portuguese while swinging nunchucks around.
Well that's a hard combination
Idk, there are many brits that live in Portugal lol
Sounds like something Richard Francis Burton would've done.
Nice to look back knowing he lost and was laughed out of court and fined when he tried to say it was rigged. Sometimes there is justice.
That's nice to know
The most surprising thing in this video is that John didn't hurt himself when he did the nunchuck segment. Well done.
Update: Bolsonaro has now been confirmed to have been beaten for re-election. I wish people of Brazil good luck.
I'm very impressed by John's Portuguese here! It's so common for people in movies and shows to claim that they speak a foreign language only for them to go and say something completely unintelligible without the subtitles!
John's Portuguese is not perfect, of course, but it's perfectly comprehensible, even without the subtitles. It gets even more impressive considering he's using nunchucks at the same time!
John Oliver I love you you dude. Every week you inform us and make us laugh, make us think, and give us a little HOPE. You will never know how grateful I am
As a full bred Brazilian, I am not only flattered but completely breaking down from laughing, that was incredible and muito obrigado por falar sobre tudo que está acontecendo no meu amado país. I live in America now, and it really worries me how things are going to play out there.
Quite funny that HBO didn't allow this to be available on HBO MAX in Brazil, hilarious in fact.
they probably dont want to piss off half their subsribers...or, rather 43.5% of their subscribers
Is probably because the ele electoral laws. The Greg News is the Brazilian version of this same show, but during the electoral time, they stop doing the show, because you have to be impartial. This episode just says the truth, but could be a problem in Brazil because speaks about the Tchutcuca do Centrão (bolsonaro). But it's just my speculation about it
Brazilian voting laws wouldn't allow it. HBO Max will have to wait until November 1st.
@Aka Kitsune Actually, the electoral laws only allow the political content that is made from within the official debate, aka made by candidates and their party themselves. This episode only shows a political opinion/analysis BASED ON FACTS and IT IS LEGAL. What HBO did was purely a censorship move, supported by their own political toughts...
@Kokoro Yuge I'm confused... you say brazillian electoral laws ONLY ALLOW political content made from the parties, but this HBO show is political content (even if it's based on facts) NOT made from the parties themselves, so according to your description of brazillian law, this show would NOT be allowed, to air would it? I'm not saying HBO doesn't prefer not to mess around with their largest market in Latin America, i'm saying maybe that explanaition doesn't completely make sense?
From Brazil here and I have a story that might make you smile. So it’s been a month, he’s lost and so far things haven’t been as bad as we expected, there have been attempts to block roads and highways but they’re not lasting. But one thing that happened with those blocks makes me think my country might be alright after all: a bus full of fans of Clube Atlético Mineiro, a football team also known as Galo, were on their way to another city to watch their beloved teams game when they came across one of these blocks between them and sweet sweet football. The fans got out of the bus and rushed the block beating up the people doing it and physically forcing the road open clearing the way for them to cheer on those that really hold Brazilian allegiance. Some highlights include selfies among the mess and someone over weight uncle (bless that man he is a saint) filming himself in the aftermath screaming (roughly translated): “We are not Bolsonaro, we are not Lula, we are F*cking Galo!!!”
I know this is late but omg this is amazing!! 😂🤣
as a brazilian, i fucking loved this, laughed my ass out at most of the jokes, its tragically funny looking at the state of our country now, i hope things turn out fine
I hope so to love Brazil 🇧🇷 from Canada 🇨🇦
The state of our country?acho que tu quis dizer situação,não acho que a tradução literal seja estado.
@KOF sim, eu sei,e eu to tentando tirar a duvida xD. Basicamente, "state of our country" soa mais natural e tem o mesmo significado.
WE WON, HOLY SHIT!!!
By less than 1%, 2 million votes, but enough to end this nightmare.
💕💕💕🚀🚀🚀🌟🌟🌟🇧🇷
It was neck in neck million’s not only in Brazil but around the world held their breath.
That is cutting it close, but nicely done
actually the difference was 1.8%
Ganhou porra nenhuma kkkkkkkk
Já começou a aplicação da constituição federal
This was absolutely the most hilarious ending in a long series of hilarious endings by John Oliver 😄 When he 'switched off' the video after the nunchucks dance, I was f***ing crying 😂
John, I'm from Brazil, I love my land, and it was very emotional hear you talking not just about the green areas, but the indegenous people, the real owners of Brazil. The original people of our contry have been killed in this horror govern. Justice for Bruno and Don!
As a brazilian, i must say: John's portuguese was surprisingly good
Né mano!?
Verdade
specially for a first time with a public and live!
Appreciate the confirmation as I would have no way of knowing how well he did. Glad to know he hasn’t made every Brazilian who sees this cringe 😂
Hopefully you guys stay an actual democracy
A week ago, a good friend of mine came to my house. We are good friends, spite our different political views. He came to show off his Glock and to try to convince me to vote on Bolsonaro. The whole thing made me remind of a movie on pre war germany. Where progressive friends met one day and one of them had joined the Hitlerjugend. I felt sad for our friendship...
Well I hope you stay safe, the rest of the world is so glad that Bolsonaro didn't win :)
@MadAsTheHatters thank you!
This aged a lot better then I hoped it would
Well done to the Brazilian people voting out bolsonaro.
Was a hard victory, but was for the best
@John Ulrich you should pay attention to what goes on in other countries around the world. Especially one that basically controls the rain forest which is a vital cog in our planets climate eco system.
Vale a pena conferir!
Eu hein... É cada uma...
You guys need to do part 2 cause shit got crazy than expected! Really! The world NEEDS to see it!
I love waking up once a week and pondering how John will make me dread existence this time.

Just wait til the episode on Italy!
he's good at that. I liked him better when he was less political.
When I turnerd on the TV yesterday and saw what was going on in Brasilia I could not think how John was right about it. Very sad.
The moment he broke out the chucks I said "If you don't switch off this camera at the end of this episode I will never forgive you". John never lets us down
Bolsonaro handled COVID like a gaming youtuber letting all his characters suffer in the sims for fun
I’m a Brazilian and it’s so sad seeing how the country is right now… the other day my aunt and mom had a very heated discussion because my mom said she didn’t want to vote for Bolsonaro. Family members are mad at each other, some people not even talking or upset because one of them is voting or not voting for Bolsonaro.
I also want to add that here lots of Christians believe that if Bolsonaro doesn’t become president, churches will be closed and they won’t have freedom of speech anymore. It’s brainwashing.
That ending left me rolling. To be fair, I use a wheelchair, so that's not unusual, but still, very funny.
LOL that was hilarious Kris 😂
Thanks for making my Monday a little bit brighter :)
Laughed out loud at this
@My mom never gave me a name :/ I'm glad I could spread the smiles. Goodness knows we need them. I hope y'all have an easy comfortable week. 😁
Kris, That was hilarious. God bless your sense of humor despite the setbacks in your life. 🥰🙏
_They see me rollin' they hatin'_
- Kris Woods, probably
thank you very much for the support. conscientious people in Brazil are severely worried, but with faith that Bolsonaro will fall!
kisses and hugs from a 19-year-old voter who hopes that the country will get out of the hands of this corrupt man soon
"Tropical version of the Capitol riot" This segment sadly aged extremely well.
Update: Brazil had it's 8th Jan but was thankfully not as bad as USA's 6th
3:28 impressive how precise it was. There was a tropical version of the capitol riots. But there wasn’t coup d’etat. The strength of democracy was tested.
That nunchuck-ptbr combo was a beautiful thing. Thank you for standing up for democracy.
Thank John! I hope Brazil remains a true democracy, I'll be voting next sunday and hope to keep voting every two years. Love from São Paulo. 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Bueno suerte Ana.
Viva Brasil! Viva Democracia!
As a citizen of the USA, I hope that both of our countries remain true democracies. We cannot take it for granted! Like you, I will vote to keep out the forces who want to destroy one person, one vote.
❣
I hope all of us remain a Democracy because I'm getting extremely nervous! Stay safe and Good luck from Florida!
Hey, I really want to visit Sau Paulo. Can you be a guide? I like to go places where I have someone I know…who I can communicate. Happy to return the favor if you coming to cali:)
From North Cal.
Thank you! It was a nice kind of relief. Even if the worst happens and Bolsonaro gets elected, this kind of video helps me understand that it was a lost cause in the first place. Even with all these points ppl still vote for Bolsonaro, the population really deserves what they will get.
yes, finally a very true statement..im not sure exactly why, but brazilians love to complain about something that in fact they have control over...maybe its a very low level of self efficacy
I'm from Brazil and this was really gratifying to watch! This was a very good summary of the recent tragedy our country has been living in, somehow John Oliver made it even funny
A primeira foi com o lula e com a Dilma
OMG!!!
I am so tense waiting the results of tomorrow for what feels like forever now (since before the first round!) but you’ve managed to make me laugh so hard!
Thanks!!!
On my side, fearing the worst, hopping for the best and voting for hope.
I watched it a little late, but still in time, and I would like to thank everyone for the good luck. It worked! Thank you John Oliver and all of his researchers and staff.
8:55 I’ve had my uncle, who unfortunately voted on Bolsonaro, say that to my face…
“People die more every year than they have in all of this pandemic!!”
“The midia is just doing that to blame the deaths on him!!”
How heartless a human being has to be to think like that…
It generally troubles me how much democracy is threatened in the 21st century.
History is always coming full circle unfortunately. We get to enjoy some good times and suddenly it's 1945 all over again
Reminder that during the 70s and 80s all of Latin America was under dictators trained and supported by the US. The economic interests of the US and of the local oligarchs for Latin America haven't changed since then (resource extraction economy, hatred of unions, privatization). The number of century doesn't magically change the material conditions.
As a brazilian, seen he saying stuffs that happens all the time here is actually heartbreaking, our reputation through the world will be even more worst.
Wait and see what Lula's got for u..
@Vinnie Time will tell my friend.. I sincerely wish Brazil the best 🙏
As a Brazilian, I don't know if I'm more thankful for the support or embarrassed we got to this point.
Watching this now in retrospect to what happened is just amazing how spot on this was.
This man is a genius... so much respect, from Brazil 🇧🇷
Here after Lula won! I'm not Brazilian, but it definitely feels like a weight lifted off my shoulders
Yeah, it's like the earth took a deep breath in relief.
Thats the exact feeling of most of us here. But there is still part of us that is not accepting the results, exactly like when Trump was kicked out. Lets see what happens in the next days. Things are on fire, hopefully not literally.
Same here. HUGE sigh of relief. Jesus Christ all those dictators need to fucking go.
@E What policies or actions indicate Lula wants to be a dictator?
I'm brazilian and john oliver speaking portuguese is the best thing this week
How was his accent? Como argentino no le entendí nada.
@Marco Cappelli pretty good
@Marco Cappelli pretty terrible, but that's why it's good
@marina daflon it was actually amazingly well done
So, the chucks meaning nothing!?😂
hope the transfer of power is peaceful and props to john for handling those num-chuks without hurting himself
John; Your nunchucks display was AWESOME! Very impressive. Well done. I smell another EMMY! Seriously, your show keeps getting BETTER. Cheers!
I waited to watch this until after the elections, and I'm sad that it is all very accurate, but at least hopeful that it's going to get better soon. But let's still be vigillant, a day has passed and Bolsonaro still haven't said anything for the press or social media after Lula's victory. It will only be really over when he passes the presidential sash in January 1 next year.
I used to watch this show a lot but I started to notice that the truth bombs were weighing on me for hours after watching....I could sense a quiet growing desperation in John's voice compared to earlier episodes.. I love that he is educating us and opening the door for change through the sharing of information - but I admire him a lot more and the entire staff for still being able to hold on to their sanity while researching this stuff.🤣🤣🤣 but I personally cannot watch last week tonight too often or I'm gonna lose my shit.🥴
Every few months I binge through a whole bunch of them at once so if I lose my sanity it's only once and not over a long period of time lol
Another great episode! Awesome job to the whole LWT team!
Please make this video available with Portuguese subtitles so that people in Brazil can send it to each other!
I volunteer to help
I'm so mad that KRclip (classic Google) ended support for user-generated subtitle and translation submissions.
@DaimyoD0 Oh man, me too. I am not hard of hearing, but my roommate is and I have switched to always using subs thanks to time around her and honestly it has massively improved my viewing experience of TV and youtube. I even submitted subtitles for videos I enjoyed before that didn't have them even though it's a lot of effort, just because so many people benefit from them. KRclip deciding to cut the feature has really, really sucked.
+
Kra vc vai ser muito mais feliz se fizer vc mesmo e mandar pra eles de alguma forma... Eu até faria, mas vc sabe como é... Eu quero evitar a fadiga :3
As a Brazilian, as funny as the show is, it’s just sad to see a country with so much potential facing a decline
As a Brazilian as funny as the show us I just figured out John doesn’t know anything about Brazil
hey John, thank you very much for bringing to the world the danger here. I live in the northeast of the country, I love your show and I appreciate so much what you've been doing on it. There's one thing you didn't mention tho, maybe you don't know, but people here are really scared to go vote because of "bolsominions", this is by far the most dangerous election since the beginning of brazilian democracy. There is so much more danger than you said it but we're really grateful for this exposure. Keep up with your good job man.
P.S.: pls send me a miniature of that giant statue giving the finger, I love that
There's a reason Bolsonaro is called "the Trump of the Tropics", because he's every bit like Trump, from his rhetoric, to his supporters
It's really scary how you really only have to exclude the name of the person and the country and you could be talking about either one.
Wow. As a Brazilian I'm so happy that you took the time to talk about our situation here... And the Portuguese was perfect! Haha thanks
Yes! There are times when country feels isolated, if not, irrelevant to the rest of the world.
Thank you for this. I’m Brazilian, it’s a wave of mediocrity and stupidity.
You know your country is in trouble when it's depicted in the main segment of Last Week Tonight 😂
As someone from the United States, who is the subject of the majority of segments, I wholeheartedly agree.
They’ll focus on countries that don’t align with them. European crime of Islamic immigrants are never shown
You didn't know that Brazil was in trouble ....? 🤔
@Duby Exactly! This is nothing but propaganda. NPCs fall easily to it tho
@abocas I'm Brazilian, the comment was a joke 👍
I'ven been keeping up with John's show for quite some time. I watched him talk about 2018's elections in Brazil and I'm watching him talking talking about of 2022's. I think it's flattering for us to be aknowleged like that by the people who had gone through to what we are being subjected right now. Thanks John.
Why is it flattering? It is a trend of his show to talk about countries around the world. We are part of the world. Not flattering at all. In fact, if you consider the reason why we got to be the main story of this episode, it is very concerning.
@Rejane Florinda Maybe change flattering to aknowleged but the idea is the same. The show has done its research in great detail, recognized the similarities and the influence of what happened to them in 2016 in our country. it's more than most people would do.
As a Brazilian, I'm laughing and crying at the same time. Gosh I hope my people come to their sense, a huge amount of people still want him as a president - poor people even.
Good news: Bolsnaro is no longer in power
Bad news: His supporters at least went through with their threats of a copycat January 6th although fortunately not to the extent we feared
Fantastic! Perfect reading of our lame politic scenario!
As a brazilian in the middle of this chaos, wacht an American guy talk about how humans can be dumb, especially us Brazilians, it's heart warming in a weird way. But this weekend we will vote right, and this men and his group will stay away from our government for decades, at least I hope that.
(sorry for any mistakes, I'm still learning English)
We will vote right: 22 and Bolsonaro will be re-elected! 🇧🇷🇧🇷
@Santiago I really hope you're joking
So this must be what it’s like being an outsider looking into the recent elections in America
@EndsvilleBR I didn't see a lie there, so yeah
Yeah this is exactly what we see
@EndsvilleBR there are no lies in this video
@Sanosuke Sagara there are no lies, only half truths, which is worse.
@Castro just curious, could you point to specific examples?
I´ve been constantly ashamed of being Brazilian for the past four years and even more now, when people have experienced the terror of this fu***´s ruling and a significant number of them STILL want it to continue. Heavens help us.
It was just perfect. And John Oliver pronounced "boa sorte" with our Southeastern accent. Loved it.
Lula won, and Bolsonaro excepted defeat; congratulations to the Brazilian people, and thank you from the rest of the world.
Coming back to watch this now that Luis has won the vote, but Bolsonaro still hasn't conceded
Honestly, I was going to make fun of Oliver absolutely butchering the pronunciation of "Zé Gotinha", but watching him double down with his nunchuck routine just made me respect him more. Kudos.
We won, John! Democracy won !
nós vencemos, e que esse pesadelo fique nos nossos livros de historia para NUNCA mais cometermos este erro novamente...
I was almost crying but that ending saved the day😂
I came for the laughter, went down with a tear. Goddamn. Being Brazillian is nerve-wrecking.
We’ll now that lula won in that run off, I pray to god the repercussions aren’t as severe and tragic as Prof. Cunha thought
As a Brazilian, it's nice to see how people react to our country. But It's also kind of like watching Michael's Toots episode. It's a mixed feeling of all different types of embarrassment.
Scott’s totts😂
Total mano... nsei oq pensar
Não peguei a referência
Toots lol
@Gabriel Berto An episode of the popular show "The Office" which is extremely awkward and hard to watch
This was interesting! he's found a really funny way to joke about something heavy. I liked it! the Amazon isn't that giant empty place anymore. There are millions of people living here. We have towns, cities even metropolises. We have a completely normal life here. I'm from western Pará. It's a great state. It has the most largest population out of all the states in the massive rainforest. We have school, high schools, institutes and universities. In Amazonas (another state) there are a dynamic number of industries, they even produce cars and all different types of stuff( okey that's cool! But... what about roads? ) we do have them although there is a lot to work on around here. We have the rivers though. we travel mostly by Ships, boats, ferri boats and other types of boats you can think of. It's not like there isn't humanity here. This video was very awesome ! It put a smile on my face. thank you! ( now go check my KRclip channel and social medias ) we lit!
Thank you for shedding light on my country's dismal situation
Thank you Brazil, your victory is also a victory for our planet.
A friend of mine just sent me this link. It's sad to see such an amazing storm of admiration for what is happening here. In the name of many, would love to ask for prayers or positive vibrations from those who really worship our country and our people and feel sorry for what's going on.
We all know that all countries have ups and downs, but we also know that many have been used efforts to minimize the problems and make this world a better and peaceful place to live. Unfortunately, for the time being, this is not Brazil's case, and I feel sorry for all the jokes that B******ro has forced on you.
I just ask you this. Pray for this country.
welp this episode aged EXTREMELY well.. What he said would happen came true.
You can say what you want about Brazil, but you don't joke about Zé Gotinha. He's our very own hero and the reason why brazilian children aren't afraid of the shot. We love him.
verdade
Of course you can joke about heroes. If you have a sense of humor anyway.
Is that a Brazilian thing, that you can't poke fun at things unless you dislike them?
@Rusty Lee bolsonaro is brazilian hero 🇧🇷💪🏻
@Rusty Lee As if her comment wasn't a joke by itself.
@Rodrigo Alves As if my comment wasn't a joke as well
The pollution wouldn't be this bad if they'd stop 🛑 burning and cutting down the rain forest!
Oliver's writer's are excellent at looking up facts and John does a great delivery of those facts. Oliver's one in a million of my favorite people.😊
Comecei rindo, depois veio o embaraço e agora tô chorando de desespero mesmo.
pouu ktin Er...Um?
Falta de partido libertário dá nisso...
Oh, this was FANTASTIC! As a Brazilian and a fan, I truly appreciate it, @John Oliver! Please do one now that Lula has won!🙏🏽
Oh. Thank you so much to make me laugh in such a horrendous times. Greetings from Brazil ❤
As a brazilian I have to say this guy's portuguese is actually quite decent
Thank you for all your support. As an brazillian i fell very happy that you guys thought that our future is important. Abração from Brasil
Of course fellow human fates are important, but when your president is burning the rainforest the entire planet will suffer in epic proportions.
@any wallsocket pish posh. We can care about the fate of countries for reasons other than wanting to reap personal benefit from their natural resources
@therabbithat Who is we? You speaking French?? Stop dragging all of humanity into your self destructive cynicism.
I am from Brazil, and I can confirm the accuracy of this video. He is not even exagerating.
Yes he is just being super biased and not showing the truth about who Lula is
Amo que o Greg News não pôde falar umas poucas e boas nessas eleições, mas ao menos na gringa alguém tentou cumprir esse papel kk
Well done Brazil! Lula for saving the Amazon rainforest:)
As a proud Brazilian, I must say: WE WON
I never thought I would ever in my life see John spinning knun chucs while speaking Portuguese... this will be all I can think about in jury duty today
It’s time to rid the world of the right wing
Hey man, at least you tried spelling it
@grintock lmao
As I Brazilian, I commend your attempt to speak Portuguese. Also, good job with the nunchucks!
I remember watching the original Bolsonaro video four years ago and then doing a whole research paper on Brazil for my AP World class that year. I'm a sophomore in college now and can't believe it's really been that long.
So accurate, I'm scared laughing, hopefully this man and his corrupt evil sons go to jail very soon! 🙏🇧🇷
We are hoping for the same in The US!!!
Yet again John predicts what happens.
This made me want to cry. It's been a tough couple of years in Brazil, but I love my country and will always fight for it.
What part made you sad?
I wish the best for you all. Let this be a lesson to many of how important it is to pay attention to who is running for office, and to vote. Never take either for granted.
@M- Nice bot
Yeah, depressingly so. And to think not even the worst of his speech was relayed 😢 getting more terrified the closer we get to sunday
It's going to be a shitshow, can't wait to watch the fireworks
